I purchased the hand-tooled copper tray, shown above, in England—and, indeed, at first I thought it was English Arts & Crafts. But, as I inspected it, some of the tooling, and the crenelated gallery treatment didn’t seem quite British to me. Then I found a mark on the back with its tell-tale Arabic characters. I’m still not certain where it was made—The Middle East? Turkey? North Africa?—but it is very nicely-made, a beautiful piece of metalwork. And the somewhat subdued pattern allows it to sit very comfortably within an Arts & Crafts home. Useful and pretty.
