We’ve just received a collection of Scandinavian Modernist glass decanters, now in-store. Over the next few days, I’ll share a few select pieces with you here in the Journal. Some pieces will also be featured in our on-line shop. Please come to the shop to see the full new collection.
Shown above, two Danish Modern pieces from the 1960’s made by Holmegaard. The company began production in 1825 in the bogs south of Copenhagen. It was in these bogs that the glassworks found peat, the (19th century) fuel needed to power the glass furnaces.
Tomorrow we move to Sweden—the Scandinavian masters of Modernist glass artistry.
