Reflections of Glasgow

Glaswegian Arts & Crafts Hand-Hammered Brass Mirror (LEO Design)

I love visiting Scotland.  And I love most things Scots—especially the Scottish Arts & Crafts. Therefore, I’m thrilled to have acquired, from turn-of-the-century Glasgow, a handsome, hand-hammered, brass-framed “looking glass”—embellished with a rich border of stylized, scrolling, sinewy botanicals.

The Scots are a hearty lot; life eeked-out on the rocky, windswept land is not for the soft or listless. But the Scottish have embraced the tough and hearty.  I’ve often marveled at tee-shirted young Scotsmen—skinny but strong—leaning head-first into a freezing wind as they make their way from pub to pub.  Ancient, rusticated castles defy the wind.  And the thistle—tenacious and prickly—is Scotland’s most-appropriate national flower.

I’ve had many wonderful days in Scotland and I reflect on them whenever I look at this mirror.  Please click on the photo to learn more about it.
