I didn’t see it at first. In fact, it was long after I bought these glasses, cleaned them, photographed them and posted them to the LEO Design on-line store that I recognized the coincidence. They bore the color scheme—black and gold—of my newly-adopted city, Pittsburgh! The city’s flag, not to mention the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates, all don the color combo with pride—a color scheme that is strong, bold even, but not a bit precious or pretentious (just like the city itself).
The reason I bought the glasses was their handsome graphic in which I saw a tip of the hat to Viennese Secessionism. I called it “Madmen Secessionist.” The set of four double old-fashioned rocks glasses, made in the 1960’s, is decorated with 22 karat gold trim and will make a stately addition to your drinks shelf or bar cart.
