Crystal Amethysts

Crystal Champagne Coupes with Amethyst Bowls (LEO Design)

American glass production in the first half of the Twentieth Century was centered at the nexus of Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.  This area had in abundance the raw material (silica), the energy (coal) and the craftsmen, including many Eastern European immigrants who brought their glass-making skills with them from the old country.

The glasses above, made by Fostoria (West Virginia) in the 1960’s or 1970’s, are blown with an amethyst crystal bowl and sculpted, clear crystal stem.
