A block of wood (possibly beech) was turned—to hollow-out the interior and to decorate the exterior—in the form of a little barrel. Handsome horizontal ribbing caps the top and the bottom of the form. This English treenware box is perfect for keeping "little somethings"—like collar stays, paperclips, or anything you'd like to secrete. A small knot, in the wood, creates an interesting (and original) bit of character at the bottom of the barrel (see detail photo, at bottom). (3.75" x 2.25") bx13129b
