I liked this handsome Victorian English oak frame the first moment I laid eyes upon it. When I got it home, and began to prepare it for sale, I started to wonder if it had once been a component part of a larger piece. Perhaps it had been a door on a piece of cabinetry? Or a hinged element on a fine piece of furniture—perhaps intended to display an image or other (flat) decorative item?
Whatever the past 150 years of this frame's life may have been, it remains a handsome and arresting piece. It exhibits strong architectural elements: turned pilasters, triglyphs, and a central pediment over a Roman arch. A fillet of metal trim lies at the bottom edge of the frame.
The frame holds a photo with a total dimension of 7.75" tall by 6" wide. The image will have to be trimmed to accommodate the rounded dome. (Use the existing picture, shown, as a template for trimming your photo.) Click on the photo above to learn more about this handsome frame.
