Every loyal dog begins his or her life as a puppy. And evolution has given puppies certain attributes—big, adorable eyes and uncoordinated playfulness—which makes them irresistible to those who might help bring them to adulthood. Baby animals (of any kind) elicit a certain sympathy in most humans.
This week, we've been discussing The Dog Days of Summer—including the star Sirius and its constellation, Canis Major. There is also a Canis Minor (The Lesser Dog).
