Summer's Coastal Terraces

Italian Modernist Two-Handled Vase with Swirling Aqua, Gunmetal & White Glazing and Impressionistic Ibex (LEO Design)

Summer is drawing to a close and—if you are planning on going to the seaside—you'd better do it soon!  Luckily, I have a handful of special items which immediately take-me-back, at least in my mind, to pleasant summers in favorite holiday locales.  And, in the months to come, as the snow piles up under my windows, a quick glance at one of these beauties will whisk me to the turquoise waters of a remote Greek island, the tiled Gaudi masterpieces of Barcelona, or the gently-arid Tuscan or French countrysides.

Aqueous surges of turquoise glazing swirl with white and gunmetal glazes on this Italian Modernist two-handled vase from the 1960's.  A hand-painted Impressionistic Ibex stands at the center.  Naturally, it reminds me of Italy—but, more specifically, it takes me to the Italian seaside, where sapphire waters meet terraced sophistication (and remembrances of summers sitting under fragrant lemon trees).  The Ibex is a more curious inclusion in the piece.  Though I've not yet been to Cinque Terre, I will be certain to keep my eyes open when I get there—searching for a remarkable long-horned goat leaping from terrace to terrace.  Please click upon the photo above to learn more about this vase.
