Today it becomes official: LEO Design has a new and permanent “World Headquarters!” On a tree-lined street near the University of Pittsburgh, we have secured the house of our dreams—with space for an office and plenty of room for merchandise. In the basement, the wood-paneled (former) Servant’s Hall will become my workshop and showroom for cleaning, photographing and arranging my merchandise. While not a store, per se, it will give me a shop-like atmosphere to best display all those “Handsome Gifts.”
The on-line store continues to operate. Over the next couple of months, in fact, it will be re-stocked and improved. And (when not unpacking boxes) I have begun to already collect some great new items. Keep checking the website and Instagram!
Our new home, a 1906 Tudor Revival, has a strong English Arts & Crafts aesthetic. It was built for a man who produced mantelpieces at the Turn-of-the-Century. It seems I have been collecting dark and heavy antique furniture for the last 25 years—never realizing it was leading to this place and time. That furniture can finally breath, now that it is no longer cooped-up in an undersized Manhattan apartment. Furniture: welcome home!
LEO Design's Greenwich Village store is now permanently closed. While we contemplate our next shop location, please visit our on-line store which continues to operate (www.LEOdesignNYC.com).
