I just took my seven year old niece to Washington, DC. We saw the White House, the Capitol, the National Zoo, the Lincoln Memorial and the Museum of Natural History. What did she like best? The squirrels!
My niece, who was visiting from Hawaii, had never seen one of the restless rodents before. She put her (hand-me-down) iPhone to excellent use—snapping photos of the little critters, some of them striking remarkably cute poses (not unlike the hand-painted folk art doorstop, pictured above).
She’s now back home, on Kauai, replete with vivid memories (and photos) suitable for sharing when she’s asked on her return to school, “How did you spend your summer?”.
