Cast Iron Racing Horses Bookends by Bradley & Hubbard (LEO Design)

While we're exploring the theme of racing horses, we cannot ignore this very handsome (and heavy) pair of cast iron bookends, made in the Twenties or Thirties.  They were made by Bradley & Hubbard in Meriden, Connecticut.  A pair of horses, rendered in crisp detail, sprint across the finish line—one appearing to be winning by a nose.  They are framed by a golden horseshoe.  The "body" of the bookend is finished in a classic, dark brown bronze while the bas-relief details are finished in golden bronze.  Click on the photo above to learn more about them.
