New Vintage Cufflinks – part XI

English Art Nouveau Art Glass Cufflinks and Stickpin (LEO Design)

During the Art Nouveau (and Arts & Crafts) period, there was a premium placed on the craftsmanship—not simply on the sum value of the materials used.  As such, good Arts & Crafts objets express a pleasing aesthetic and reflect a skilled artisan’s talent.  Shown above, a pair of English “artglass” cufflinks with matching stickpin, made around 1920. Though jewelry is typically judged by the value of its stones, in this case, the “stones” are simply shaped and polished slag glass cabochons—artfully executed.

Please come into the shop to see them in-person or click on the photo shown above to learn more about them.  You may also investigate our on-line shop (under Cufflinks) where you’ll see many more options of handsome vintage cufflinks.
