International Workers’ Memorial Day

Danish Modern Blacksmith Sculpture by Axel Lochner for Bing & Grondahl (LEO Design)

Begun in Canada in 1984, International Workers’ Memorial Day is celebrated to remember those who have perished at work and to highlight the often-preventable nature of such incidents.  In the United States, 12 people die every day in work-related accidents. Worldwide, a worker is killed every 15 seconds. Advocates continue to push for safer working conditions and on-the-job practices.

The worker, pictured above, sculpted in Danish stoneware, has been “on-the-job” for some fifty years.  So far, no accidents.  Please click on the photo to learn more about him.
