Scare away the winter’s chill with this pair of nicely-cast iron bookends from the 1930’s. Made by Bradley & Hubbard, they capture (in rather good detail) all the elements of a fireplace—right down to the bark on the logs! Interestingly, while the sculptor strove for a traditional domestic setting, the bookends are thoroughly handsome and avoid the over-embellishment one often finds in such attempts. They’d make the perfect gift for the booklover with a townhouse—or, better yet, for the booklover who wants a townhouse.
