Greetings from London - part I

English Brass Candlesticks on London Stoop (LEO Design)

Hello from London.  I’ve spent the last few days here, visiting auctions, estate sales, and (my best source) collectors.  I’ll share with you a preview of some of the items enroute to the shop.  Eventually, they’ll be listed on the website’s selling site—unless they sell first in the shop!

I’ve assembled a collection of candlesticks, some wooden, some brass—like the two pairs above.  The shorter pair, slightly older, are French from the 1860’s – 70’s.  They display beautiful and intricate botanically-inspired hand-engraving and traces of a former silver plating.  Today, the silver resides only in the engraved crevices which enhances the beauty of the metalwork.

The second pair are late Victorian English (1880’s – 1890’s), in a stylized, faux bamboo form. They are very tall, very stately.

These candlesticks—and the others—should be available in-shop by mid-November.  Look for them on-line by Thanksgiving.

More tomorrow.
