Feast of the Annunciation

Krementz Gold-Plated Art Deco Cufflinks with Slate Blue Enameling (LEO Design)

Imagine the drama—not to mention the fright—young Mary must have felt as the angel Gabriel approached with these words:  “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.”  What a bewildering, intimidating and humbling experience.

The Feast of the Annunciation—the most important of Marian celebrations—is celebrated each 25 March (unless that day falls on a Sunday or during the Easter Holy Week (in which case the feast is then moved to another date).  It has been celebrated since the fourth or fifth century even when, in later years, the Church mandated that no feasts may be celebrated during Lent—except for Sunday Mass and The Solemnity of the Annunciation.

Since Mary is often associated with the color blue, today we show a pair of slate blue enameled cufflinks.
