"The Bard" will always prove inspirational to the writer, the poet or the curious student of human nature. Though a little mystery surrounds Shakespeare's life and personage, he remains widely-regarded as the World's greatest writer in the English language. His plays still affect audiences more than 400 years after they were written. This is because Shakespeare was able to distill recognizable human nature—which we all share—in each of his characters. We see glimmers of ourselves (or someone we know) in Beatrice, Bottom or Banquo. Claudius, Cobweb or Cleopatra. The human expressions, aspirations and frailties which Shakespeare put-to-paper still touch us across the centuries.
