Back to Books – part II

Cast Iron Painted Egyptian Revival "Sphinx" Bookends (LEO Design)

If we’re to learn “The Riddle of the Sphinx” it won’t be from this pair!  They maintain a placid silence, gazing-out at things (perhaps?) beyond our understanding.  They will, however, hold-up your books with loyalty and a great deal of style.  Made in the 1920’s or 1930’s—a time when both Art Deco and Egyptology were enchanting the West—this tight-lipped duo will bring a touch of “Giza Chic” to your office, den or bookshelf.

More bookends tomorrow.
