Today is the International Day for Monuments and Sites, established by UNESCO in 1983. It’s a day on which humanity’s cultural diversity (and its vulnerability) is promoted, protected and conserved. Though we often don’t think about it, monuments and cultural sites teach us the history of the world’s human experiences. Such places transmit the values, goals, and stories of the societies which precede us. Preserving them means preserving the history of those people.
The pairs of bookends shown above are inspired by ancient classical architecture. Please come into the shop to see the full collection of architecturally-themed bookends, part of a large and varied offering of bookends.
