When I first saw this beautiful piece of Gouda Dutch art pottery, I was hesitant. If you know my store, you know it is arranged by color: blue over here, orange over there, green a little further on. Should I buy this piece? Into which section would I place it? Although I couldn’t figure-out the merchandising arrangement, I accepted it into the shop anyway—it is such a handsome piece. A little Art Deco, a touch of Art Nouveau, it captures the transition of design schools which flourished between the wars.
