This Huntley & Palmers English decorated-steel biscuit tin was inspired by an Eighteenth Century Royal Worcester porcelain vase (inspired, in turn, by older Chinese ceramics—then the rage in England and in the West). Bird-of-Paradise panels are printed on the metal by offset lithography. The tight-fitting lid makes it suitable for tucking-away a cherished souvenir. This tin also can be used to house the cremated remains of a beloved cat or dog. Such a biscuit tin, made in 1934, is to be found in the Reading Museum, Berkshire (west of London).
